Think you have what it takes to change the world?

SEE IT: What is your vision for a stronger community?

In one sentence, address what you think needs to change in your community (ie. your school, your town, the global community, etc.) and come up with a way to make it better. Only after you identify real needs in your community can you imagine a better way of doing things. It could go something like this: “My vision for a better community/world is…and this is my idea for making it happen……”

BELIEVE IT: Why is my vision important to me and others?

Changing the world can be tough work. If you believe in yourself, and have a firm grasp on how your passion will pay off for yourself and your community, it’ll be so much easier to keep going. It’s important to not only pick a cause or an issue that you believe in 100%, but it’s also important that the community, especially the people you are trying to help, believe in your project as well. It is important to understand the problem you are trying to solve and be able to communicate the need and goals of your project to others.

BUILD IT: What can I do to make my dream into reality?

Nothing happens with an easy snap of the fingers. You have identified the problem and come up with an idea, now its time to BUILD your project and come up with some action steps.

The first step is setting up goals for your project. Your long term goal maybe to end poverty, help the homeless, or use the power of music to help sick children, but if you think about your project in terms of measurable short term goals, you’ll have an easier time making change. Some examples to keep in mind:

•Goal: To directly help 20 people.
•Goal: To raise $1000 in donated goods and services towards my project.
•Goal: To get the local news to do a story on my project.
•Goal: To inspire 50% of the school population to get involved.
The next step is to break the goals you came up with in the into action steps. For example:

•Goal: Get the local news to do a story on my project
•Invite someone, like a local politician, that’s likely to draw a crowd and the media to an event your holding.
•Make a list of all your local news outlets and research the best person to contact at each
•Write a press release and send it out to all the outlets on your list
•Create a packet of materials on your project (ie. Media Kit) that you can give to any media that attends your event
Once you have figured out the goals of your project, you next need to build out the larger structure of your project.

•TITLE of the project
•WHAT the project will accomplish
•WHO the project will affect
•TIMELINE for the project
•RESOURCES you will need and where you will obtain them.
•CHALLENGES that the project may present
DO IT: Put your plan into action

Go out there and get moving! Keep your plan in mind, but stay flexible. Unplanned things are bound to happen.

REFLECT: What happened? And what’s next?

Here is where you think about the goals you set up in the BELIEVE IT step. Did you reach your goals? What would you do differently going forward or next time? Did you achieve so much success that you want to repeat the project again or keep it going? Even if you decide to keep growing your project past your original goals, it’s important to regularly stop and reflect on your goals, celebrate your accomplishments and set new ones. If you don’t reach all your goals, don’t worry, that’s what “next time” is all about.

Bless You Andre,
When we are both, or all on the same page "We Will Be Doing Something". This is what "The Do Something Grant" is all about. It is not the grant funds that make it happen, it is the fact that the power or the "HOPE" within me grants me the authority to do something in my local church, local community, district, jurisdiction or national work.

It is intresting that a secular group is the one challanging us to do something. We are the one's that "HAVE" this hope within us. It Is not about what you did, but that the hope within challanged you (us) "it is not me, but the Christ that resides within me". The real danager is we "TALK ABOUT" doing something but never get around to doing it.

We are both on the same page, only the linquistic needs some modification. What I agree is that, when we refer to the world, as the lifestyle of men, that can change with the power of the message of Christ. James said to be a friend to the world is to be an enemy to God. the fact is, we all have friends who are noble human beings that conventional society would even see as being worthy of going to heaven, but you and I understand that, just being nice is not enough to make it in to heaven. We can change the worldliness of of men's hearts through the preaching of the absolute truths of the Bible. But this worldly system shall and has wax cold. God bless, united together through Christ who strengthens us both. Bro. A.L.Thurman

Yes, Brother Thurman,
and be thankful that through change, you were made a new creation. Christendom is the only impact that has effected the world. As a matter of fact everything elce has stayed the same! If you do not believe me, just go back to your home town and see your friends that did not receive the gospel message, and tell me that your life has not changed.
Great augment, but it is not facts that make the augment that Christ has changed me to change the world; show me your faith without works, and I will show you my works that has changed everything I have touched by my faith. Want to know the greatest part about my faith; It was the foolishness of preaching that I was saved. figure that out!

Do you think you have what it takes to change the world? It seems Christendom is making very little impact to change the world. Although the body of Christ has made many inroad to change the democracy that threatened the very fabric in which our nations constitution has been built upon. Many presidents from "Lendon Johnson" who had a plan to end hunger, to "Barach Obama" who is trying hard to make a "change" in the way Government is run. Their are many objective truths that will never change. One is this world. Jesus did not call us to change the world, but the hearts of men. 1st Corinthians 1:23, Paul said, We preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness. John 3:17, For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. This worlds order is controlled by "Satan". The bible declared that "he" Satan is the God of this world. 2nd Corinthians 4:4, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. What is your vision for a stronger Community: An advocacy group set up in the church to address issues that often plague the disenfranchised and disenchanted. In one sentence, address what you think needs to change in your community. ( ie. your school, your town, the global community, ect.) There are achievement gap in local schools reflecting a significant difference in test scores among racial groups throughout Maryland. Their is social hierarchy, unfair treatment in our communities. Anarchy dwells in the community were general needs are overlooked by consensus. Come up with a way to make it better? I plan to partner with other local pastors to create a coalition to first address the problem to parents, and community of the disparities we are challenging and look for alternative solution to correct the problems we face. Why is my vision important to me and others? Jesus ask Peter three times testing his loyalty, Peter do you love me? Peter's reply all three times, yes lord I love you. On another occasion the scripture say's that we are to love the lord with all of our "heart" "soul" and "mind". The "heart" speaks of our "feelings" as of love. The heart is not intellectual-rational- it is a feeling and it , does - gives - helps without merit or pretension. Jesus has declared unto us that we shall overcome the world because he overcame the world, but he never promised us that we would change it. We can only affect it by the preaching of good news.

Missionary Doyle,
That is what this work is about!

Effective Ministry is mobilizing our visions and dreams The Lord has give us. If posting this mini-grant article on our ministry web site has moved you to “Do Something”, that is effective ministry.

Empowering workers to promote/publish the gospel!
Psalm 68:11- The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

Just think, it did not cost me anything. Who knows, your suggestion or project may move Love Temple, or even the Jurisdiction to another level of ministry for all.
